A graduate of the State University at Albany, Chris Callaghan has been engaged in the business of government finances since 1971, when he served as an accountant for the Facilities Development Corporation. Callaghan has also been active in Republican politics since 1969, when he served as President of the Waterford Young Republicans. Long active in grass-roots Republican politics since then, he was the Republican Town Chairman for nearly twenty years and now serves as the

committee's Vice-Chairman.
     Callaghan served as Budget Officer for the Town of Waterford from 1980 to 1986, and as a Management Analyst in the Saratoga County Administrator's Office from 1983 to 1997. In 1997, Governor George E. Pataki appointed Callaghan to be Saratoga County Treasurer. Callaghan was elected to the position later that year and re-elected in 1998 and 2002. He has been unopposed in all three elections.
     Callaghan is President

of the New York State Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers, and a member of the National Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers. He serves as Treasurer of the Waterford Industrial Development Agency, and a member of the Waterford Planning Board.
     Callaghan lives in Waterford with his wife, Liz, Deputy Supervisor for the Town of Waterford. he has three grown children, all of whom reside in Waterford, and six grandchildren.
