Mayor Bloomberg Seeks Re-Election

Republican Mike Bloomberg is seeking re-election as Mayor of New York City on the eighth of this month. During his current term as Mayor, he has continued the Giuliani crime initiatives while reforming New York's school system and making New York City's government work more efficiently.
Taking office while the World Trade Center wreckage was still burning, Mayor Bloomberg overcame the huge challenges of restoring the city. Mayor Bloomberg worked

with the NYPD to drive crime to record lows.
He successfully ended decades of corruption and inefficiency in New York City's school boards. Mayor Bloomberg instituted educational standards to end social promotion and make certain New York's children receive the education they need.
From cutting spending to computerizing city functions to dealing toughly with municipal labor unions, Mayor Bloomberg has made New York City work more efficiently. His introduction of the 311 phone number has made the city more accessible.
Raised by middle-class parents in Medford, Massachusetts, Mike was taught at an early age the value of hard work and civic responsibility. Mike paid his way through Johns Hopkins University with loans and by working as a parking lot attendant.
Mike went on to graduate from Harvard Business School before joining

Salomon Brothers. At Salomon, Mike quickly rose through the ranks to become partner.
He was later squeezed out after a corporate merger. Using his severance check and a keen understanding of emerging technologies, Mike founded Bloomberg LP in 1981.
In 1984, Bloomberg LP had 20 subscribers for its financial news and information; today, there are over 200,000. Headquartered in New York City, Bloomberg LP has grown into a global media company, employing more than 8,000 people across 100 countries.

How You Can Help

Despite positive polls, complacency and overconfidence could keep Bloomberg supporters from voting on Election Day. The Bloomberg campaign asks that you spend one day working on their Get Out The Vote drive. Visit www.mikebloomberg.com to volunteer.
